Web Based Instructional Support Tools (Effectiveness, Advantages and Disadvantages)

When one speaks about web-based instruction we speak about interaction/learning through different internet/ online based platforms such as Edmodo and Thinglink among others. In todays' world it is believed that the concept web based instructional support tools are indeed effective. This notation can be supported by research cited in an online article. In continuning, this article postulated that the World Wide Web can be used to provide instruction and support. Also they further went on to say that web based instructional support tool gives learners matchless access to educational rseources far surpassing that of the traditional classroom. I do agree with this notation as this allows for more engagement and interaction due to the fact that we are living in a era where technology is of utmost importance. Two web based instructional tools are Edmodo and Thinglink. Now classmates, I know you are all curious as to know what these two instructional tools are about. Well Edmodo is a platform or educational tool that allows connection between teachers and students online. Edmodo also gives teachers the opportunity to provide educational materials while Thinglink in essence is a tool that allow teachers to create interactive images with the inclusion of music, sounds, texts and photographs. Web-based instructional support tools have several advantages which include: 1.Resources can be accessed at any time since its online based once there is internet access. 2.Potential for widenng access, for example to part time students, mature or work based students. 3.It promotes active and independent learning. Furthermore some disadvantages include: 1.Access to appropriate computers may be a challenge for some students as they may not be able to purchase the necesssary device to join these web based instructional tools. 2.Students may feel isolated meaning they may feel far away from their peers since students are accustomed to seeing each other hence causing students to be distracted. When they are distracted then the level of learning decreases. 3.Students may face poor quality internet due to geographical location thus causing delay in receiving information and been able to connect with peers and teacher.
